SCRUFF thanks everyone who participated in our Spay Days for 3022! We had a fabulous year with 9 Spay Days that started in April and ended in November. Each of those months our Spay Days were hosted at the Animal Protective Foundation in Schenectady and the days were a great success. Watch the SCRUFF Web site for information and 2023 scheduling of Spay Days.
The lovely call colors are great for viewing and “leaf peeping”, but they are a reminder that the cold weather of winter will be upon us soon. We know that many of our regular SCRUFF readers are concerned about the feral cats in our community. We thought that you might find this page at Alley Cat Allies to be of interest. It shows many Community Cat Shelters and the options. Check out https://www.alleycat.org/resources/feral-cat-shelter-options-gallery/ and see what they are displaying.
This week we have an important tip for everyone who wants to help feral cats. Please do not try to pick up a feral cat. They are certainly not used to interacting with people, and if you try to handle one it will be extremely stressed. For your safety, too, don’t attempt to capture a feral cat, even if you use a blanket (as some people do), you will stress the cat and endanger yourself.
